Job summary

BOLD in Spain seeks a Senior Aerodynamics Surface Design Engineer to bridge aerodynamic theory and practical CAD work. You'll collaborate with Aerodynamicists, CFD Analysts, and Manufacturing to translate concepts into detailed CATIA models and prototypes for wind tunnel testing.

The role emphasizes cross‑functional teamwork, rigorous design reviews, and strict FIA compliance, with a focus on wings, diffusers, sidepods, and other surfaces.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent R&D design experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position.
• Motorsport background.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using CATIA for advanced surface design and robust model construction.
• Proficiency in CATIA surface modeling for intricate aerodynamic model design.
• Ability to maintain a structured and organized design tree within CATIA for efficient model management.
• Creating sturdy and robust models in CATIA, ensuring durability.
• Expertise in developing functional prototypes using various manufacturing methods, aligning with aerodynamic testing needs.
• FIA Regulatory Understanding.
• Proficient in English.

Responsibilities

• Design aerodynamic surfaces using CATIA, focusing on wings, diffusers, sidepods, and other elements.
• Collaborate closely with aerodynamicists, engineers, and other team members to understand performance requirements and constraints.
• Develop detailed CAD models and prototypes for aerodynamic surfaces ensuring manufacturing feasibility.
• Iteratively refine designs based on simulations, wind tunnel data, and real-world performance data.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to create prototypes for wind tunnel testing and on-track evaluations.
• Maintain detailed documentation of designs, simulations and test results, and report progress to the broader team.
• Stay updated with FIA regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Address design challenges and propose innovative solutions within regulatory constraints.
• Keep up with latest advancements in aerodynamics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
