Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the search, evaluation, and acquisition of land for the development of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, hydrogen, and battery storage systems across Spain and Portugal. This includes identifying suitable sites, negotiating land leases and purchases, and securing the necessary rights for project development.
- Conduct detailed assessments of potential sites, considering factors such as land use, environmental impact, access to infrastructure, proximity to grid connections, and local regulations. Work closely with technical teams to evaluate the feasibility of each site for wind, solar, hydrogen, and battery projects.
- Navigate the regulatory landscape in Spain and Portugal, ensuring compliance with local land use and environmental regulations. Collaborate with legal and technical teams to manage permitting processes for land acquisition and project development.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local governments, regulatory bodies, landowners, and community groups. Represent the company in public consultations, hearings, and meetings with relevant stakeholders, ensuring positive engagement and addressing concerns effectively.
- Build and manage relationships with key institutional stakeholders, including government entities, energy regulators, and public authorities. Advocate for the company’s interests in regulatory frameworks and public policies related to renewable energy development.
- Collaborate closely with internal development teams, including project managers, legal advisors, and engineers, to ensure that land acquisition aligns with broader business strategy and project timelines.
- Lead negotiations for land agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the company while addressing landowner and community concerns. Oversee contract drafting and ensure proper documentation and legal compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 10 years of experience in land acquisition, in the renewable energy sector (wind, solar, hydrogen, and / or battery projects). Experience in institutional relations, stakeholder engagement, and working with local governments or regulatory authorities is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of the land acquisition process and regulations in Spain and Portugal. Familiarity with local zoning laws, permitting procedures, and environmental impact assessments related to renewable energy projects is essential.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience securing land agreements under complex conditions. Ability to balance the interests of all stakeholders while safeguarding the company’s objectives.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including local communities, landowners, government officials, and regulatory bodies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are key to this role.
- Solid knowledge of the renewable energy regulatory environment in Spain and Portugal, including policy developments, permitting requirements, and institutional frameworks that impact land acquisition for wind, solar, hydrogen, and battery projects.
- Proficiency in Spanish is required, and knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently across Spain and Portugal to visit potential land sites and engage with local stakeholders.
