Job Description:
VHIR offers a vacant position for a laboratory technician to cover the basic experimental and management needs at the Clinical Biochemistry, Drug Delivery & Therapy group. The candidate will be hired within the MycoMatrix- CPP2022-009780 project to assist in its development as well as in general routine techniques and procedures in the lab. Our group is experienced in developing and testing in pre-clinical models a spectrum of nanomedicines. Within the MycoMatrix project, such nano-platforms will be directed towards oncological indications being the candidate's main tasks to assist in their biosynthesis and perform subsequent efficacy assays.
In addition, the technician will also work with the FVPR/U20 service platform of the group. FVPR/U20 is dedicated to perform customized production and functional assays for the pre-clinical development of novel diagnostic or therapeutic compounds based on nanotechnology. FVPR/U20 is part of ICTS-Nanbiosis and operates in an ISO9001:2015 certified environment. The candidate will also perform tasks for the national and international projects of the CB-DDT group and contribute to the laboratory management.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Specific/Additional training in cell culture, molecular biology and bioproduction processes.
- Fluency in Catalan and English (business level).
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 12 months of experience of laboratory work in research-related projects, including basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, etc.) and routine cell culturing.
- Lab management skills (analytical, organizational and time management).
- Good computer skills, especially in MS Office.
- Experience in Quality Management Systems.

Main responsibilities and duties:
- Cell culture: basic maintenance (subculturing, freezing and storing), functional assays (cell proliferation, apoptosis, etc) of a variety of cultures available in the lab.
- Complete molecular biology characterization of cell cultures after treatment with different nanosystems.
- Characterization and handling of different types of nanomaterials (hydrodynamic size, endotoxin, sterility).
- Administrative and laboratory management tasks.
Labour conditions:
- Full time position: 40h/week.
- Gross annual salary: 18.892,15€ -19.000€. Will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities.
