The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) is seeking a knowledgeable Laboratory Assistant for their Biomimetic Systems for Cell Engineering Group. This full-time position, starting in July 2025, requires technical training and excellent manual skills to support innovative research in cell engineering. You will assist in the preparation of hydrogel-based 3D models and perform cell culture maintenance in an interdisciplinary environment that values diversity and professional growth.

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Biomimetic Systems for Cell Engineering Group is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to assist with ongoing research projects, particularly in fabricating hydrogel-based 3D models and supporting cell culture activities. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree and excellent manual skills for handling delicate materials.

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

1. Assist in preparing and assembling hydrogel-based 3D models
2. Perform routine cell culture maintenance and support experimental procedures
3. Handle small tools and components with precision and care
4. Maintain organized lab records and ensure safety compliance

Requirements for candidates:

• Technical training in biomedical laboratory or similar
• Basic experience with cell culture techniques is advantageous
• Excellent manual skills and attention to detail
• Patience and meticulousness under supervision
• Good communication, teamwork, collaboration, commitment, proactivity, integrity, critical and analytical thinking
• Adaptability and willingness to support team needs
• Basic English proficiency for communication within the group
