This position will focus on the development of aptamers against soluble proteins using in vitro SELEX for the development of diagnostic methods. We are looking for an experienced lab technician with extensive knowledge of PCR techniques. This role is ideally suited for a motivated junior scientist who is passionate about pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Key Responsabilities:

  • Perform, troubleshoot and optimise SELEX experiments employing conventional PCR, under the leadership of senior scientists with a long track-record in the discovery of aptamers using SELEX.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot biochemistry and molecular biology experiments relevant to the validation of aptamers’ affinity and specificity.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of laboratory work.
  • Analyse, interpret, and present results to colleagues in regular meetings

Requirements:

Candidate requirements

  • Strong and demonstratable hands-on experience with PCR (end-point and real-time), nucleic acid/protein QC and analysis (e.g. primer design and validation, agarose electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE and western blot).
  • Excellent organisational, data-archiving and presentation skills.
  • 2 years of experience in the biotech industry o research laboratory.

Valuable requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology or microbiology.
  • Experience with in-silico or cell-SELEX development.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and public gene and protein databases.
  • Experienced in biophysical characterisation of nucleic acid-protein or nucleic acid-ligand interactions (e.g., ELISA, ELONA, SPR).
  • English language speaking, listening and writing skills at least at B2 level.
  • Publication in a major scientific journal with molecular biology/biochemistry contributions is a plus.
