ROLE SUMMARY :

King’s College School, La Moraleja—one of Inspired’s flagship schools—is seeking to appoint a proactive, highly organised, and safety-conscious Laboratory Technicianto join our dynamic Science Department from late August 2025. This is a permanent role, offering the opportunity to play a key part in supporting science education across the secondary school

As Laboratory Technician, you will support the delivery of practical science across KS3, IGCSE, and A-Level, maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment and working closely with teachers to prepare high-quality practical resources. You will ensure all science laboratories meet the highest standards of safety and organisation while also helping to bring science learning to life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Prepare and set up practical equipment, materials, and chemicals for lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised laboratory environment in line with current health and safety regulations.
• Support teachers with in-class practical work, including demonstrations and small group supervision when required.
• Manage the storage and disposal of chemicals, biological specimens, and hazardous materials appropriately.
• Monitor stock levels, place timely orders for laboratory supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Assist in the development and testing of new experiments and teaching resources.
• Contribute to risk assessments and support the Head of Science in quality assurance practices.
• Collaborate with science teaching staff to ensure smooth lesson delivery and continuous improvement in practical provision.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE :

• Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science, Maths, and English (essential).
• A-Level science subjects or vocational qualifications in laboratory practice (desirable).
• Previous experience in a school science department or professional laboratory setting (desirable).
• A strong working knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory procedures.
• Understanding of current health and safety legislation, especially in educational contexts.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work calmly under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple requests.
• A positive, flexible approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting young learners.
• A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child protection in schools.
