Job Description

Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for Linux Kernel Filesystems, specializing in BTRFS.

Responsibilities :

• Development of BTRFS in the upstream Linux Kernel community.
• Maintenance, support, and bug fixing of SUSE's product lines in the filesystems domain.
• Participation in Linux Kernel community activities such as patch reviews and feature suggestions.
• Manage inter-company relations with other companies developing BTRFS and other filesystems projects.
• Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with the technology roadmap and business value; create plans for integration and updates into architecture.
• Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Leverage recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence.

Education and Experience Required :

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 2+ years of experience.

Knowledge and Skills :

• Work experience in the Linux Kernel community or other open source projects.
• Understanding of various subsystems of the Linux kernel and their interactions.
• Scripting skills for testing, performance, bug resolution, and data analysis.
• Experience with open source toolchains and development standards.
• Experience designing and developing software systems and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Designing and integrating software systems across multiple platforms.
• Evaluating and selecting testing processes and methodologies, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and scripting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English and local language.
• Ability to communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate at business and executive levels.
