Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with strong programming skills, advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning modeling, and experience working with biological and environmental datasets, including microbiome data. The role involves designing and implementing analytical solutions, integrating geospatial data, and automating workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement statistical and machine learning models for complex biological and environmental data.
• Prototype and evaluate approaches to novel problems, delivering effective solutions.
• Analyze microbiome and spatial data using automated workflows (e.g., RMarkdown, Jupyter).
• Integrate GIS data into predictive models.
• Maintain well-documented, modular code with version control (Git).
• Set up and manage automated workflows using CI / CD tools like Jenkins.
• Communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to planning and delivering analytical solutions for projects and clients.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, environmental science, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or Statistician.
• Experience with biological count or compositional data.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical inference and machine learning algorithms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R.
• Proficiency with Git, Jenkins, and reproducible workflows.
• Experience with SQL, GIS tools, and R libraries.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Self-driven and proactive.
