General Description:

The Jr. Environmental Specialist supports environmental and permitting activities for renewable energy projects at various stages, including development, construction, and operation. The role involves assisting in project acquisition or sale processes and coordinating with consultants and internal teams to navigate environmental studies and permitting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Business Development team with permitting processes and compliance for project development and operation.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with permitting authorities at local and national levels.
  3. Conduct environmental due diligence for potential projects.
  4. Develop environmental studies in collaboration with internal teams.
  5. Create schedules and budgets for environmental studies.
  6. Coordinate permitting activities using internal and external resources.
  7. Prepare permit applications, represent Finerge in hearings, and document processes.
  8. Coordinate with Construction and Operations teams to ensure permit compliance.
  9. Support development of documentation plans for permit compliance during project operation.

Professional Experience:

  • 1-4 years of experience in environmental compliance for energy projects.
  • Experience with policy development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of biodiversity issues related to wind and solar projects is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS are required.

Academic Requirements:

  • Engineering or Environmental degree; a master's degree is a plus.
