Position Overview

We are seeking a junior-level Analytical Chemistry Lab Technician to join our growing team in Vic. This role is ideal for someone with some experience in chromatography (HPLC, LC-MS, or GC-MS) who is looking to develop their skills further and gain hands-on training with advanced techniques such as FTIR, tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS / MS), and benchtop NMR.

The position primarily involves routine lab tasks and instrument operation , supporting sample preparation, chromatography runs, and data handling. You will also support method development independently or under the guidance of senior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain analytical instruments, especially HPLC and LC-MS / MS (training provided for FTIR, LC-MS / MS, and benchtop NMR).
• Perform routine sample preparation, analysis, and basic troubleshooting.
• Assist with developing and optimizing chromatography methods.
• Record and organize analytical results in the company’s internal database.
• Interpret analytical data and furbish standardized reports.
• Support daily laboratory tasks including calibrations, quality checks, and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace.
• Follow SOPs, safety protocols, and legal compliance at all times.

Requirements

Degree (BSc or higher) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.

Hands-on experience with at least one chromatography technique (HPLC, LC-MS, or GC-MS).

Understanding of chromatographic principles and data interpretation.

Ability to work responsibly and accurately in a laboratory environment.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.

Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Spanish is an asset.

Must be able to start work no later than mid September.

Preferred Qualities

Previous work in an analytical laboratory or MSc level academic experience.

Familiarity with method development or instrument troubleshooting.

Interest in Kykeon’s mission and harm reduction work.

Comfortable handling regulated substances under strict protocols.
