At IPHES-CERCA, we strive to better understand who we are through research in human evolution and prehistory. But no major discovery is made alone: that’s why we are looking for a committed and motivated person to join our management team and provide support in the administrative processing of projects and research grants.

Who are we?

IPHES-CERCA is a research center based in Tarragona with international projection. With nearly 70 professionals, we combine advanced research in Prehistory and Human Evolution, higher education, knowledge transfer, and social engagement with science. We are part of the CERCA system of the Government of Catalonia ( www.iphes.cat ), being a Center of Excellence Maria de Maeztu, recognized by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación. In addition, we have been awarded the HR Excellence in Research distinction by the European Commission ( HR Excellence in Research ), which reflects our commitment to open, transparent and merit-based recruitment (OTM-R) and to the career development of researchers and technical staff ( OTM-R Policy ).

What will your main duties be?

You will join the PALPROX team, a European Consortium participated by IPHES-CERCA as coordinator and the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw (Poland), the CNRS-UMR-6282 Biogéosciences at the Université de Bourgogne (Dijon, France), and the Spatial Biology Lab from the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (Portugal).

You will be under the dependence of the Scientific Coordinator of this European Doctoral Network, the Dr. Juan Manuel López-Garcia, also working in coordination with the IPHES-CERCA Research Office, to ensure the correct administrative and economic management of this project, under the supervision of Mr. Bernat Sentís, as PALPROX Project Manager.

Your tasks will include:

  • Administrative support to Scientific Coordinator and the Project Manager of the project, including the governance bodies and the events of the Doctoral Network.
  • Travelling to France, Portugal and Poland for organizational support to the governance bodies and the events of the Doctoral Network. Travel costs will be covered by the consortium.
  • Monitoring and elaboration support for reports and deliverables.
  • Secretariat in Meetings and governance bodies: Agendas, minutes.
  • Contact Point for potential problems.
  • Facilitate internal and external communication activities, interacting between IPHES-CERCA and all partner-beneficiaries and Associated partners.
  • Dissemination of the Doctoral Candidates calls.
  • Dynamize the activity of the common e-learning platform (Moodle).
  • Managing the web and intranet of the project.
  • Elaboration of anonymised questionnaires to Doctoral Candidates (Mentimeter or similar).

Essential Requirements (Eligibility Criteria)

To apply for this position, all of the following requirements must be met at the time of application

  • University degree in any discipline related to project management, science, humanities, technology, or other relevant fields.
  • English proficiency: speaking, clear and structured writing skills.
  • Advanced IT skills and very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Knowledge and experience in Moodle e-Learning Management System.

  • Previous experience in similar positions in multi-partner research projects and grants.
  • Knowledge about the scientific fields involved in PALPROX and its academic ecosystem.
  • Knowledge about what a Scientific Career is, and ways to develop it.

Knowledge of EDP (Electronic Data Processing) software to gather data about the Doctoral Network and process them using data visualizers as Power BI or similar.

  • Full-time position (40 h/week) with flexible schedule: start between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m.; end between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. During the summer period, Easter week and Christmas holidays, a reduced or intensive working day of 7 hours is applied
  • Salary is fixed in line with IPHES-CERCA standard pay framework.
  • Integration into a research center with real scientific and social impact.
