• Complex society: information & technology(high-order interactions and memory, learning and co-evolution in social systems and game theory, information ecosystems, digital twins, mobility, energy and air transport)
• Unconventional computing & learning(brain-inspired computing, photonic and optoelectronic implementations of brain and neuromorphic computing, quantum machine learning, quantum computation at the nanoscale, fundamental machine learning models, their applications and interpretability)
• Life & environmental dynamics(models of gene regulatory networks, evolutionary dynamics of viral and bacterial populations, neuronal circuits and neuronal modulation, spread of epidemics, dynamics and resilience of ecosystems, network-based oceanic flow, climatic variability, atmospheric-oceanic phenomena)

In all three domains we combine applications with the use of methods and ideas from physics, in particular from nonlinear dynamics and statistical physics.

Candidates must hold citizenship of a European Union member country.

IFISC( https://ifisc.uib-csic.es ) is a joint research center of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), dedicated to pioneering cross-disciplinary strategic research in complex systems, building on physics methods. We seek candidateswith a strong background in complex systems, in particular relating to specified topics above. The ability to work in more than one of the mentioned topics is valued. The contracts we can offer are for 12 months; the possibility of an extension for another year will depend on available funds. The annual gross salary ranges from 37200 € and 41000 € depending on the candidate’s experience.
