Predoctoral Contract Position – Microbiota and Multiple Sclerosis Team
Job location: Neuroimmunology Unit - Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Neuroimmunology Unit at the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute is looking for a highly motivated candidate to complete their doctoral thesis within its microbiota research team. This team is part of a consolidated project focused on the study of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.
With over 20 years of experience, the unit researches neuroimmunology disorders, MS in particular, combining both basic and translational research and always guided by the real-life needs of patients. For almost a decade now, the microbiota team has been expanding its knowledge about how the gut microbiota behaves in people with MS, and how to regulate it through diet and treatments. This work has enabled them to develop a specific nutritional program that has proven to improve the quality of life of patients.
The team’s objective now is to develop new therapeutic strategies to regulate the microbiota, so we can improve the clinical evolution of the disease and help to produce medication that is more personalized and precise.

TYPE OF CONTRACT (LEGAL REFERENCE):1 year Trainee Predoctoral Researcher contract available, extendable to a maximum of 4 years (annual extensions).
The candidate may apply for predoctoral grants from public and private research organizations (Basque Country predoctoral grant program, Ikertalent program, University Professor Training (FPU), Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), University of the Basque Country, etc.), with support from the research unit and the Biogipuzkoa Institute.
The remuneration shall be based on the candidate’s commitment and merit, as well as how suited they are for the role. The worker must comply with the operating rules set by the Biogipuzkoa Institute in terms of commitment, duties, working hours, leave entitlements, etc.
Eligibility criteria
EVALUATION (MAXIMUM OF 100 POINTS WITHOUT AN INTERVIEW AND 125 POINTS WITH AN INTERVIEW)
