Jefe de Fundición/Production Manager (m/f/d) at Procast Guss Espana

Reports directly to the plant management.

Responsible for approximately 60 employees in the following departments:

• Melting shop
• Core making
• Molding
• Cleaning

Responsibilities

• Accountability for results and both technical and disciplinary leadership of the assigned areas
• Production planning and control using IT systems
• Personnel planning: Efficient use of work models (shifts/working hours) to maximize capacity, vacation planning
• Responsible for planning employee training needs
• Control and monitoring of specific quality processes in the foundry, including compliance with quality standards, metallurgy, and molding material systems
• Identification of quality deviations and implementation of corrective actions in collaboration with quality management
• Monitoring cost development in production using operational KPIs, efficient use of energy and raw materials

Additional Responsibilities / Collaboration

• Ensure compliance with occupational safety and accident prevention regulations
• Close cooperation with maintenance for ongoing and preventive maintenance
• Supervision of external companies (cleaning department)

Position Objective

Increase production and overall performance through:

• Continuous optimization and stabilization of processes
• Identification and elimination of disruptions
• Reduction of scrap
• Minimization of cleaning/grinding effort
• Employee motivation and sustainable retention to strengthen and stabilize the company as a modern and efficient operation

Candidate Requirements

• Completed training as a foundry mechanic, ideally with further qualification as a master craftsman/technician
• Industry experience in iron casting/machine molding is essential, ideally with automotive experience (not mandatory)
• Several years of leadership experience in a similar position or as deputy/department head in a foundry

Specialized Knowledge

• Strong understanding of metallurgical processes in iron casting
• Excellent knowledge of gating and riser systems (mandatory)
• Experience with HWS molding systems (mandatory)
• Relevant experience in core making, melting, and cleaning
• Experience in production and personnel planning
• Knowledge in analyzing and optimizing existing production processes and quality management systems
• Experience in Lean Management (5S, Kaizen, CIP), automation, Industry 4.0, project management
• Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems
