Sustainability Specialist (Ethics & Human Rights)

This is a fixed-term opportunity for 18 months.

Why we need this role

The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team supports and facilitates the development of a robust ESG strategy, ensuring our sustainability activities go beyond compliance. We aim to deliver an industry-leading ESG programme and raise awareness among all Colt employees. As a global leader in digital infrastructure, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and strengthening our social and governance responsibilities. This role will support the business in delivering the ESG strategy, particularly concerning Human Rights, Ethics, and sustainable procurement, through leading workstreams and strengthening EU Taxonomy alignment and supply chain engagement.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop ESG workstreams related to human rights, ethics, conflict minerals, and supply chain decarbonisation.
  • Collaborate with ESG Data Analysts and external consultants to develop metrics and dashboards that provide meaningful insights.
  • Align with HR, Procurement, and other teams to embed ESG understanding and EU Taxonomy requirements.
  • Assist in developing policies and processes that promote human rights, ethical practices, decarbonisation, and compliance with standards, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate with the ESG Executive to define and promote internal and external ESG communications, raising awareness of ethical standards and human rights issues.
  • Communicate with colleagues at all levels regarding SBTs, CSRD, and EU taxonomy compliance.
  • Advise and support colleagues on sustainability matters, helping to embed policies across the business.
  • Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to human rights and ethics.
  • Engage with external bodies like CDP, UNGC, Responsible Business Initiative, and WEC to strengthen our approach and share best practices.
  • Stay informed on industry changes and trends, translating research into actionable business strategies.
  • Support supplier engagement to align with ESG strategy and EU Taxonomy, including pilot projects and collaborative initiatives to meet CSRD and Science-Based Targets.
  • Establish mechanisms for reporting and addressing ethical breaches or human rights violations within the organization and supply chain.
  • Act as a liaison between the ESG team and Sales to promote ESG value propositions and support bid processes.

What we're looking for

Skills & Experience :

  • Experience in the Sustainability field, focusing on human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
  • Strong understanding of human rights and ethics activities to drive change.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, capable of effectively conveying the sustainability narrative.
  • Collaborative approach to complex sustainability solutions.
  • Good understanding of the sustainability landscape and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
