A leading company in the telecommunications sector is seeking a Design Engineer to create optical designs for fiber networks. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field, with at least 2 years of experience in telecom design, including proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS. This role includes ensuring compliance with processes, conducting field visits, and liaising with project managers and internal stakeholders to deliver effective design solutions.

Graduate of ETC, Mechanical, Construction, or a relevant degree, or a combination of certifications and experience.

Category B driver’s license holder

Minimum 2+ years of experience working on telecom networks, preferably fiber optic.

Mandatory experience of 2+ years in designing with AutoCAD / GIS.

Plus understanding of PON (Passive Optical Network).

Knowledge of types and standards of optical fibers.

Liaise between the Project Manager and internal stakeholders to produce optical designs.

The main activity involves creating high-level and low-level designs, identifying backhaul solutions and cabinet locations, selecting fiber implementation methods, performing link loss calculations, and installing junction boxes.

Analyze survey report data using Google Earth as a reference, ensuring communication with internal teams and external contractors to resolve issues.

Conduct daily meetings with survey teams to facilitate feedback transfer to the design team.

Produce optical models based on AutoCAD.

Transfer survey data in Excel format.

Produce Bill of Materials, and track materials and stocks needed for project implementation, including optical installation and construction equipment.

Support and supervise the creation of the Bill of Quantities.

Control the quality of engineering and optical design activities, conducting field visits as necessary.

Ensure compliance with all customer processes and procedures for FTTH infrastructure construction.
