The role
Seeking a dynamic and scientifically adept Investment Manager to join our client (venture capital firm specializing in technology). The candidate should ideally have a strong scientific and technical background in technologies such as software, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, algorithmic processes, signal processing, communications, or photonics. The role is multifaceted, demanding a high level of versatility in managing and nurturing portfolio companies, engaging with stakeholders, and remaining actively involved in the scientific and entrepreneurial community.
Responsibilities
Deal Flow Management :
- Manage and refine the process of assessing incoming investment opportunities to ensure a high-quality pipeline.
- Filter and prioritize startups for deeper engagement, conducting thorough, technical due diligences with the aim of investing.
- Provide comprehensive support to portfolio companies in various areas including operational strategy, market research, financial analysis, IP management, and documentation review.
- Serve as a dependable advisor to help portfolio companies navigate challenges and leverage opportunities.
Networking and Industry Engagement :
- Regularly attend VC, entrepreneurship, and networking events to stay informed on industry trends and developments.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and experts at both national and international levels to enhance strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
Research and Development Monitoring :
- Actively engage with scientific and industrial developments relevant to our investment thesis.
- Consistently update knowledge through technical journals and participation in science congresses, ensuring the firm can assess opportunities in-house and add value to our portfolio companies.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field with a substantial scientific and technical component.
- At least 5 years of experience working in an enterprise or a corporation in technology sectors.
- Strong command of Spanish and English, capable of understanding nuances in both languages.
- High interpersonal skills and the ability to manage uncertainty and adapt to a diverse, fast-paced environment.
