From Acertto, we are looking for an experienced Innovation Engineer. During the final, crucial phase of product development, you discover on site that the new machine line cannot deliver the right lid. All crucial functions had been tested and validated at your Fibercenter in Leeuwarden, yet you were prepared for further adjustments in the final production line. The 'click' is missing; there should be a click when the lid is pressed on the cup. You and your colleagues implement the backup plan, adjust the moulds, and manage to achieve the required "click." The customer, a large global player in the food industry, is fully satisfied, and you reflect on a successful project. This project in Germany is running smoothly, and now people worldwide can enjoy their drinks responsibly, thanks to a fiber lid instead of plastic—a sustainable choice.

Innovative and Sustainable

We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D center and machine line developer of Huhtamaki. We develop machine lines to produce sustainable packaging for the food industry. Our facilities include a modern test center, a pilot plant, and various departments, all focused on innovation and sustainability. Our projects, like the Fully Compostable Packaging for ready-to-eat meals, demonstrate our commitment, reducing CO2 emissions by 82% and eliminating plastic waste.

Your Typical Day

As Huhtamaki Fiber Technology grows, we seek an experienced Innovation Engineer for our Valencia, Spain plant. Your day often begins with a team meeting, perhaps the kickoff of a new project involving co-development with partners. You participate in technical discussions, provide advice based on test results, and present proofs of concept. You also coordinate visits to strategic partners, like mould makers in France, to assess potential collaborations.

Additional Responsibilities

You play a key role in concept choices, reviews with Concept Engineers, and contribute to brainstorming, design, and development of new products. You collaborate with internal and external teams and serve as the technical conscience of the R&D project manager. The role comprises approximately 70% technical innovation and 30% project leadership.
