Summary

Morningstar DBRS is seeking a highly motivated, experienced leader in the project finance and infrastructure finance sectors with at least 10-15 years of relevant credit experience to join its European Asset Finance team. This is a senior position responsible for leading the growth of Morningstar DBRS’ project finance and infrastructure finance credit ratings business in Europe. The successful candidate will lead the development of a team of Analysts across Spain, Germany, and the UK, and work closely with members of the Global Asset Finance team in New York and Toronto.

About the Role :

The successful candidate will actively participate in initiatives to broaden analytical capabilities in Europe across various asset classes within project and infrastructure finance. This includes large infrastructure asset financings such as industrial equipment leases, stadium and arena financings, bespoke digital asset financing (e.g., telecommunications, data centers, fiber networks), and sectors related to power and renewable energy. The role will involve oversight of the team’s analytical deliverables, including reviewing rating reports, participating in rating committees, and ensuring compliance with processes and procedures. Coaching and mentoring Analysts, managing relationships with issuers and bankers, and representing Morningstar DBRS at conferences are also key responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities Include :

• Support the team’s business objectives to provide timely and high-quality rating opinions, reports, and issuer research.
• Develop a deep understanding of existing methodologies and criteria for various sectors within Asset Finance.
• Lead the analytical team in developing innovative topical research and publishing related industry studies.
• Build and maintain relationships with issuers and investors.
• Represent Morningstar DBRS externally at conferences and with media.
• Lead external meetings and chair internal rating committees.
• Respond to inquiries from investors and media representatives.
• Support business development initiatives analytically.
• Lead the refinement of research products and rating approaches.
• Mentor and coach junior analysts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of credit experience, specifically in European-based Project Finance or Infrastructure Finance.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage a team.
• Degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Solid knowledge of the power sector, infrastructure, and financial markets.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong team player with a demonstrated ability to work interactively in a team environment.
• Corporate finance and financial statement analytical ability.
• Experience in reviewing contracts and debt financing agreements.
• Experience in evolving sectors such as digital infrastructure in Europe is a strong asset.
• Previous rating agency experience is a strong asset.
• Completion of the CFA or MBA program is an asset.
• Willingness to travel as required.
