AirAdvisor is dedicated to ensuring air travelers receive the compensation they are entitled to for flight disruptions, including delays, cancellations, missed connections, and airline-related issues like overbooking. Operating in the EU, UK, and other international markets, we focus on protecting air passenger rights globally. We have successfully processed over 460,000 claims for clients from 221 countries, earning more than 22,000 reviews. Currently, we operate in 21 languages (with 9 more forthcoming this year). As an ambitious and fast-growing startup with a clear vision for international expansion, we aim to reach 1 million claims by the end of 2026.
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated lawyer specializing in consumer flight claims (typically via small claims procedure) to lead in-court collections, either owning or wanting to open their own boutique legal firm in Spain. Pre-court collections are managed by a team of paralegals. You will be responsible for filing batches of court cases to recover compensation and/or reimbursement of Out-of-Pocket Expenses (OPE) incurred by passengers and/or ticket refunds. Currently, AirAdvisor handles three types of claims: EU261 compensation for delays, cancellations, and denied boarding. Baggage claims (delayed or lost) will be launched soon.
If the law or judge rules the case unfairly, we may consider escalating to change the law, if feasible. There may also be PR opportunities regarding court victories and legal issues to raise public awareness. This role is ideal for high performers who can work independently, possess strong litigation experience, and are passionate about advocating for consumer rights in the airline industry.
You must be free from conflicts of interest, meaning you are able to litigate claims against different airlines.
Requirements: A valid lawyer’s/solicitor’s license and legal insurance. A law degree from an accredited institution. Experience with small claims, consumer rights, or aviation law is a plus but not required. Knowledge of relevant consumer protection laws and aviation regulations is also a plus but not mandatory. Proven success in in-court collection is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case merits, conduct legal research, and develop effective legal strategies. Ability to manage caseloads, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and track statutes of limitations. Experience in automating and standardizing claims management processes for rapid scaling.
Responsibilities: Preparing and filing batches of cases in courts against airlines, responding to legal defenses, and enforcing court decisions if necessary. Conducting legal research and developing best practices for handling various legal issues. Negotiating settlements when appropriate. Maintaining detailed case records and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Staying updated on consumer protection laws, aviation regulations, and legal precedents to provide current advice and representation.
Approach to work: Professional, ambitious, open to testing AI optimization solutions, and innovative in claims management. Self-aware, honest, responsible for mistakes, and committed to continuous improvement. Result-oriented with a proven ability to deliver quick, impactful results. Capable of managing multiple projects independently, with excellent problem-solving and creative thinking skills. Devoted to enhancing customer satisfaction and willing to go above and beyond. Excellent communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly.
Cooperation Type: Self-Employed Consultant Contract / Law firm under local regulations.
