At Addyou, we are a recruitment consultancy specialized in identifying top talent for innovative and high-impact organizations. We are currently partnering with a fast-growing technology company based in Barcelona that is accelerating the energy transition through cutting-edge software and hardware solutions for utility-scale energy storage.
They are looking for a curious, technically skilled, and hands-on Implementation Engineer (Industrial IoT – Edge & Cloud) who is eager to take ownership of how edge computing platforms integrate with real-world energy infrastructures. If you're passionate about technology, renewable energy, and building robust systems that scale… this could be your next big move.
About the Company
Our client is a young and innovative player in the clean tech space. Since their foundation in 2021, they’ve been developing advanced digital and physical infrastructure for managing large-scale battery storage systems.
They work closely with utilities, developers, and IPPs to help them operate battery systems more reliably and profitably—contributing to a more sustainable future. The marketing team plays a key role in translating their technical expertise into clear, impactful messages that connect with the market.
What’s the challenge?
As Implementation Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in bridging field operations with cloud infrastructure. You'll lead the onboarding of battery energy storage systems into a cutting-edge platform, ensuring stable, secure, and scalable integration across edge devices, software stacks, and industrial networks.
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of IoT, cloud, and energy systems — and your contributions will have a tangible impact on the efficiency and intelligence of renewable energy infrastructures.
What will you be doing?
1. Asset Integration & Connectivity (Core focus)
- Lead the technical onboarding of utility-scale battery storage systems into the company’s data platform and edge IoT stack.
- Deploy and configure proprietary edge devices to ingest and transmit data reliably and securely.
- Establish communication with site-level components (EMS, BMS, inverters) using industrial protocols like Modbus, MQTT, or OPC UA.
- Ensure secure connections and data flows from field to cloud.
- Optimize future onboarding processes through internal tools and configuration templates (YAML/JSON).
- Troubleshoot device installation, network, and data ingestion issues.
- Coordinate with project managers and customers to ensure successful and timely deployments.
- Contribute to CI pipelines and performance/stability testing of edge components.
2. Software Provisioning & Configuration
- Configure and maintain edge device software stacks (versioning, patching, settings).
- Keep accurate technical records of each deployed system.
- Help modularize integration logic to enable configuration-driven workflows.
- Work closely with developers to improve observability and diagnostics on edge deployments.
3. Customer Enablement & Long-Term Support
- Build strong relationships with customer operations and technical teams.
- Guide users on data interpretation and usage through the platform.
- Monitor observability metrics, detect anomalies, and contribute to performance reviews.
4. Pre-Sales Technical Support (occasional)
- Join sales calls to assess integration feasibility and define technical requirements.
- Prepare effort estimations and integration plans for prospective clients.
- Support proposal building with realistic technical assumptions.
5. Support & Troubleshooting
- Act as Tier 1–2 support for edge device, network, and data pipeline issues.
- Work with engineering to resolve edge-related bugs and platform inconsistencies.
- Document issues and provide actionable feedback to product and hardware teams.
6. Internal Enablement
- Maintain technical documentation, setup guides, and onboarding resources.
- Share learnings from the field to improve roadmap and tooling.
What you bring
- Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or similar).
- 3+ years of experience in systems integration, commissioning, or technical operations — ideally in energy, BESS, or industrial automation.
- Proficient in Linux systems and Git-based environments.
- Strong skills in scripting/debugging, ideally in Python.
- Hands-on with Docker, CI pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild).
- Comfortable with structured configuration formats (YAML/JSON).
- Solid grasp of protocols like Modbus TCP/IP, MQTT, OPC UA.
- Fluent English (C1 minimum).
- Residing in Barcelona or nearby areas
You stand out if you have
- Experience integrating SCADA, EMS, or other energy systems.
- Background in edge computing or data/config-driven device onboarding.
- Familiarity with AWS IoT, OpenTelemetry, Kafka, Grafana, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of telemetry optimization and device limits in resource-constrained environments.
- A strong QA mindset with attention to detail in testing and field validation.
What’s in it for you?
