The Portfolio Management team oversees every solar and BESS project across various funds in the UK, Italy, the US, Chile, Spain, Portugal, India, and Poland, aligning with the growth of NextEnergy Capital funds. This function is part of the Group's investment management division and manages all solar projects owned by the Group’s investment vehicles in collaboration with WiseEnergy, the Group’s asset manager. The successful candidate will support the development and evolution of management strategies for each fund's portfolio, focusing on solar PV and energy storage systems worldwide, especially in Iberian Countries and Chile.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage specific assets or portfolios, ensuring the delivery of the investment case.
  • Support project handovers from the investment team, coordinating across investment, construction, ESG, fund, and asset management teams.
  • Manage key project contracts, including sale and purchase agreements, throughout the investment lifecycle, in coordination with senior team members.
  • Draft and review contracts with appropriate legal clauses to protect business interests.
  • Oversee information flow for internal and external reporting.
  • Act as Director of SPVs for assigned assets or portfolios if required.
  • Oversee technical, financial, debt management, and commercial activities of WiseEnergy to optimize asset performance.
  • Regularly meet with WiseEnergy to identify risks and discuss action plans.
  • Report to senior Portfolio Management Team and stakeholders as needed.
  • Collaborate with WiseEnergy on activities outside normal operations.
  • Review and comment on performance reports from WiseEnergy, covering technical, financial, and ESG outcomes.
  • Support negotiation of operational contracts like O&M, PPAs, and H&S, and assist in contractor selection.
  • Identify operational improvements and communicate them to relevant teams.
  • Review budgets, analyze variances, and address cash flow issues.
  • Own financial outcomes of assets/portfolios, including budgeting, revenue optimization, and Opex reduction.
  • Identify risks and key activities for reporting to stakeholders.
  • Analyze portfolio performance trends and develop short- and medium-term plans.
  • Support strategic projects and liaise with WiseEnergy teams for implementation.
  • Identify gaps in operational contracts and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across functions.
  • Manage and train Junior Portfolio Managers if applicable.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience as an asset or portfolio manager in renewable energy, preferably solar.
  • Experience managing solar assets in Iberia and/or Chile, with market knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics).
  • Understanding of contractual agreements.
  • Knowledge of Italian is desirable but not mandatory.
