Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) invites applications for an HPC Engineer to optimize Earth Sciences applications on top European HPC platforms. The role involves profiling, tuning, and leading a profiling unit, as well as developing common tools used across multiple Earth Sciences sub-groups.

The successful candidate will interact with the Climate Variability and Change group and external collaborators to advance high-performance computing for climate modeling on state-of-the-art

Formación

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline.
• Master’s degree will be valued.
• Excellent computing skills in Fortran or C/C++ and Unix/Linux environments.
• Programming with Git or SVN; experience with HPC profiling tools like VTune.
• Experience compiling and optimizing scientific codes on large HPC systems.
• Familiarity with MPI/OpenMP and HPC architectures; Unix/Linux user.
• Experience with emerging architectures such as RISC-V.
• Experience supporting Unix/Linux-based HPC systems.

Responsabilidades

• Profile and implement computational optimizations for Earth Sciences applications on very high-resolution configurations.
• Lead the CPU Profiling & Optimization Unit with technical supervision across projects.
• Develop and maintain department-wide tools and applications used by multiple sub-groups.
• Collaborate with the Climate Variability and Change group and external partners/vendors.
