The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in Spain is seeking an Optimization support engineer for the High Level Support Team. You will optimize and port scientific codes for pre-exascale architectures, improve parallel performance, and consult researchers on architectures and programming models.

The role sits in the Operations Department and offers a full‑time contract with a competitive salary and benefits, including training, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation

Formación

• Bachelor in Computer Science or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar HPC/Applied research role.
• Experience porting and optimizing applications on UNIX-based systems with Fortran, C, MPI, OpenMP.
• Good Linux and shell scripting knowledge.
• Experience with parallel programming (MPI/OpenMP) and GPU programming models.
• Experience using performance analysis tools and debuggers.
• Experience collaborating with external partners and teams.

Responsabilidades

• Optimize and adapt scientific application codes for pre-exascale architectures and systems.
• Improve the performance and scalability of existing parallel codes; assist developers with changes if needed.
• Adapt algorithms and libraries to new architectures and accelerators.
• Provide consultancy to scientists on architectures and programming models.
• Generate performance analyses and benchmarks; report results to developers.
• Collaborate with European and international teams on technical matters.
• Optimize and port code to GPU architectures with effective approaches.
