• Bajo un programa postdoctoral compatible con MSCA.

• Investigar en fermentación en estado sólido y digestión anaeróbica.
• Desarrollar y monitorizar sistemas innovadores para la valoración del desecho orgánico.

Join GICOM Research Group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain

Are you an ambitious postdoctoral researcher seeking to advance your scientific career in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and impact-driven environment? The GICOM Research Group at the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering , UAB , is looking for excellent candidates to jointly apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) 2025 .

Research Lines of Interest

We are particularly interested in collaborating with candidates working on innovative topics related to :

• Solid-State Fermentation (SSF) of organic waste for bioproducts (e.g., biosurfactants, biostimulants, biopesticides)
• Anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading
• Environmental nanotechnology for process intensification or pollutant removal
• Composting and strategies for greenhouse gas mitigation
• Biodegradability (aerobic and anaerobic) of waste and new materials

About GICOM – What Are We?

GICOM (Composting Research Group) is an internationally recognized research group founded in 2000, with a mission to transform organic waste into value through biotechnological innovation. While originally focused on composting, GICOM has evolved into a multidisciplinary platform driving sustainable resource recovery and bioproduct development through Solid-State Fermentation , Anaerobic Digestion , and Nanotechnology-enabled environmental engineering .

Our current focus is on :

• Biotechnological valorisation of organic waste into high-value compounds
• Pilot-scale development of SSF and anaerobic digestion systems
• Integrated process monitoring , with emphasis on gas emissions and product quality
• Bridging fundamental research (TRL 1–2) and applied demonstrations (TRL 5–6)
• Co-creation with industries and public authorities to deploy circular solutions
