A dynamic music company is seeking a Head of Finance and Operations to lead financial strategy and operations from the ground up. This strategic role involves shaping financial forecasts, driving profitability analysis, and implementing efficient systems. The ideal candidate has a passion for technology and music, with extensive experience in finance roles in high-growth environments.
ABOUT US
Too Young Ltd. is a globally recognised independent music company. Since 2010, we've built a reputation for creative excellence, curating iconic soundtracks for the world's leading independent cinema, fashion, and luxury brands.
A unique, dual-engine business model powers our success:
● The Service Engine: The profitable heart of our business. This includes our market-leading music supervision agency, Too Young Ltd., and our top-tier background music division, Movement. This engine provides deep client relationships, stable cash flow, and the market intelligence that fuels our growth.
● The Tech Engine: Our scalable future. Catalog is our proprietary licensing platform, built on a multi-year R&D investment. It is poised to redefine the premium music licensing market by introducing a scalable, high-margin revenue stream.
We are at a pivotal inflexion point. We are leveraging our profitable foundation to launch a tech platform that will define our industry's future, and we are looking for a key leader to help us build it.
THE OPPORTUNITY: BUILD THE ENGINE OF OUR GROWTH
This is not a traditional back-office finance role. As our first Head of Finance and Operations, you will be a key leadership team member—our company's central nervous system. We are seeking a business-minded strategist who can architect a long-term financial forecast one moment and roll up their sleeves to implement a new payment system the next.
You are an operator at heart. You see manual processes not as daily tasks, but as problems to be solved permanently with intelligent systems and automation. Your core mission is to transform our finance and operations from a reactive function into a strategic, data-driven engine that gives us a distinct competitive advantage.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Finance & Planning (The Forward-Looking View)
● Lead Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Own our financial strategy. You will lead all budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modelling to provide the leadership team with a clear understanding of our financial health, runway, and unit economics to guide our strategic decisions.
● Co-pilot Fundraising & Investor Relations: You will be crucial to our capital strategy. You will prepare financial models, manage data rooms, and manage investor reporting as we execute our upcoming Seed round for Catalog and a subsequent Series A in 2026.
● Drive Commercial & Project Profitability: Go beyond the company P&L to establish systems for tracking project-level profitability and team utilisation. You will provide the data that helps us understand which clients and services drive our growth.
● Own KPI & Dashboard Management: Go beyond basic reports by fully leveraging our Syft Analytics tool (or similar) to build and maintain insightful, real-time dashboards that track the business's financial and operational health.
● Drive Financial Strategy: Act as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership on pricing strategies, procurement, cost-saving initiatives, international expansion, and critical investment decisions.
2. Systems & Process Automation (The Hands-On Build)
● Architect our Automation: Take charge of solving our biggest operational bottleneck. You will map, diagnose, and completely re-engineer our revenue cycle. This includes selecting and implementing a dedicated Accounts Receivable (AR) automation platform to eliminate manual invoicing, reminders, and collections.
● Modernise Spend & Accounts Payable: Implement a modern spend management platform for corporate cards and expenses to eliminate manual reports. You will fully leverage Dext (or similar) and integrate bill payment solutions to streamline our entire AP process.
● Optimise the Tech Stack: Take complete ownership of our current financial stack (QuickBooks Online, Syft, Revolut, Holded, Trello) and continuously identify opportunities for optimisation and integration to create a single source of truth for all financial and operational data.
3. Operations and Team Leadership (Making the Business Run Smoothly)
● Lead and Empower: This role will directly manage and mentor our small Admin team. You will succeed by empowering them and designing the systems and processes that allow them to execute daily transactional work with maximum efficiency and impact.
● Build our Foundational People Operations Framework: We'll need a dedicated HR lead as we scale. Your mission is to build the essential framework they will inherit. You will partner with leadership to operationalise our Hire-to-Retire lifecycle, from professionalising onboarding to implementing a lightweight performance management process, ensuring our culture scales with our headcount.
● Oversee Business Operations: Act as the central point for negotiating with key operational vendors, managing legaland company compliance with our counsel, and overseeing contract management.
WHO YOU ARE: THE IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
You are not a traditional accountant; you are a tech-savvy business builder.
● Experience: You bring 5–10 years of experience in a finance role, ideally complemented by exposure to operational responsibilities. Throughout your career, you've spent significant time in high-growth startups or dynamic tech environments, where you’ve played a part in scaling companies through periods of rapid change.
● The Player-Coach Mindset: You are a strategic thinker equally comfortable getting your hands dirty. You can build a complex financial model and immediately pivot to configuring a new software tool.
● A Systems Thinker: You have a natural passion for technology and process improvement and a proven ability to manage complex projects from diagnosis to implementation and adoption. You know how to implement lightweight processes that provide control without creating bureaucracy.
● A Master of Change Management: You have high emotional intelligence and know how to bring the team along on a journey of change. You can implement new systems in an empowering, not restrictive way.
● Essential Technical Skills: ○ Deep, hands-on experience with the QuickBooks Online ecosystem. ○ You can confidently discuss the AR automation, payment, or spend management tools you have implemented and their measurable impact. ○ Strong financial modelling and data analysis skills. You are data-driven to your core.
● Communication: You have excellent communication skills. You speak fluent English; professional Spanish and/or French proficiency is a significant plus.
● Cultural Fit: You have a genuine interest in music and are excited by the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the industry.
WHAT WE OFFER
● A Competitive Compensation Package: A competitive salary and a compelling equity stock options plan in a high-growth company, proportionate to experience and track record.
● Impact & Autonomy: This is a rare opportunity to build the entire finance and operations function from the ground up as a core member of the leadership team.
● A Modern Work Environment: Our vibrant Barcelona office offers a flexible working model.
● Excellent Benefits include private health insurance, a professional development budget to fuel your growth, and regular team events that foster a fantastic, collaborative culture.
● A Mission That Matters: The chance to help create the future of the music industry.
