Job summary

NetZero is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to lead delivery across its Spanish portfolio, from access applications to COD. You will coordinate with REE, DSOs and authorities and oversee HV/MV substations, energisation and commissioning in a hybrid Madrid-based role.

Job description

Location: Madrid, Spain Salary: €60,000–€80,000 + annual bonus, typically 10–20%

Contract: Permanent

Working arrangements: Regular Madrid office attendance, with hybrid flexibility and site visits. No fixed remote-working ratio.

About the Company An international renewable energy business is developing and constructing its own utility-scale BESS and solar PV projects in Spain.

Its current pipeline includes approximately seven to eight projects, predominantly BESS, with plans to deliver the EPC phase itself once projects reach ready-to-build status.

The Opportunity The business is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to lead connection delivery across its Spanish portfolio, from access applications and permitting through construction, energisation, commissioning and commercial operation.

You must have 8–15 years of relevant experience, including projects delivered through to COD and hands-on commissioning or energisation of substations and HV/MV installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the grid connection process across utility-scale BESS and solar PV projects, from development through to COD.
• Manage access and connection applications, technical submissions, permits and authorisations through to full legalisation.
• Lead engagement with REE, DSOs and regional and local authorities.
• Coordinate connection requirements with development, engineering and construction teams, consultants and contractors.
• Oversee delivery of substations and HV/MV connection infrastructure.
• Take an active role in commissioning and energisation, coordinating testing, inspections and approvals.
• Manage connection schedules, costs and risks, resolving issues that could delay commercial operation.
• Ensure complete documentation and approvals for legalisation and operational handover.

Your Background Essential

• 8–15 years in grid connection, with a proven record of taking projects through permitting, connection, commissioning and COD.
• Deep knowledge of Spain’s access and connection process, including TSO/DSO procedures and authorisations.
• Hands-on commissioning and energisation experience involving substations and HV/MV installations.
• Confidence managing REE, DSOs and public authorities.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to manage several projects.
• Native Spanish and English at B2–C1 level.
• Based in Madrid or willing to work from Madrid, with availability for site visits.
• A similar role within a major developer, EPC contractor or utility, such as Iberdrola, Acciona, EDPR, REE, Elecnor or Cobra.
• Direct experience of utility-scale BESS and/or solar PV in Spain.
