EDP Renewables is seeking a Risk Specialist to monitor market risk metrics, analyze exposures, and contribute to the automation of reporting tools. This role requires a degree in engineering and up to 2 years of experience, with a strong understanding of market risk concepts and proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel and Python. What you will do :
As a Risk specialist at EDP Renewables, you will be responsible for,
General responsibilities :
1. Market Risk Metrics Monitoring & Limit Tracking
Monitor and analyse key market risk indicators (e.g., Var, stress testing, sensitivities, exposure to price / volume / shape) across diverse asset types, including renewable generation and BESS.
Detect trends, variances, or breaches in risk metrics and contribute to identifying potential actions.
Help maintain and enhance internal tools and processes to support ongoing risk oversight.
2. Exposure Analysis
Analyse market risk exposures, including price, volume, and shape risks for renewable, conventional, and storage portfolios (e.g., BESS).
Contribute to assessments of hedge effectiveness, basis risk, and asset performance under different market conditions.
Participate in the development and improvement of risk policies, methodologies, and procedures.
Prepare and maintain regular risk reports and dashboards for internal committees and business units.
Ensure clear and up-to-date documentation of methodologies, processes, and controls.
4. Tools & Data Automation
Contribute to the automation of recurring risk reports and analytics.
Support the continuous improvement of data workflows, reporting templates, and visualization tools.
5. Stakeholder Communication
Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on exposures, metrics, and risk control mechanisms, including those related to storage assets.
Present analytical findings and risk concepts in a clear, structured, and business-relevant manner.

Experience in the energy sector, preferably in roles involving data analysis, trading, risk, or operations.
Exposure to market risk concepts (e.g., Var, stress testing, exposure analysis).
3. Specific Knowledge :
Proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, or SQL.
Familiarity with quantitative models or risk modelling techniques.
