About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Retail Excellence Director to oversee the growth and evolution of central retail functions, including Retail Operations and Retail Performance for our client’s prestigious luxury brand. You will collaborate closely with the Commercial Execution and Learning Director to identify comprehensive retail solutions. Initial priorities include:
- Deploying and enhancing tools that enable seamless customer interactions in stores (e.g., POS devices)
- Fostering an omni-channel culture and client-centric solutions through collaboration with stores and global departments
- Equipping store leaders with shared tools to manage and impact store performance
- Measuring and driving best-in-class customer service and in-store experiences
This role is based in the Madrid Head Office and reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.
Responsibilities:
Retail Performance
- Design strategies and actions to maximize store performance:
- Develop a structured approach to retail performance, allowing consistent measurement of success and forming the basis for both short- and long-term innovations
- Design and implement management tools and KPIs to optimize sales, store and staff performance while maintaining high retail standards and compliance
- Drive regular reviews of store and outlet performance—productivity, staff KPIs, commission schemes, etc.—to identify opportunities for growth
Retail Operations
- Identify and implement operational initiatives in collaboration with local markets:
- Analyse and monitor store stock productivity; drive operational improvements and efficiencies across front and back of house
- Partner with relevant departments to ensure inventory accuracy and reduce shrinkage
- Drive compliance and follow-up on store audits
- Identify and introduce technologies and tools to enhance operational data, improve efficiency, and deliver a seamless client experience
- Support stores in building client loyalty through strong operational processes and routines
- Work with regional leadership to identify opportunities to minimize operating costs and reduce risk
Retail Projects
- Act as project manager for key retail initiatives, promoting effective collaboration between central and local teams
- Continuously review business practices and propose forward-looking, innovative solutions
- Lead retail projects that align front-of-house, back-of-house, and online/offline efforts
- Collaborate on organizational design, retail profiling, and career development pathways
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience, ideally in the luxury or high-end sector, with substantial experience in retail operations and performance
- Proven track record of implementing scalable structures and working models that engage teams and improve outcomes
- Collaborative by nature, adept at cross-functional and cross-cultural communication, and skilled in influencing diverse stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing high-performing teams
- Effective communicator with the ability to adapt content and tone to a range of audiences
- Strong analytical thinker with the ability to interpret, model, and leverage data
- Excellent project management capabilities, able to divide complex initiatives into manageable components
- Team-oriented and willing to go beyond formal responsibilities to support broader objectives
