Job Title: Medical Director Therapeutic Dermatology

Location: Barcelona, Spain – Hybrid

Job Description

Reporting to VP Global Medical Strategy Head Therapeutic Dermatology, The Medical Director Therapeutic Dermatology is a key role in Galderma, accountable for both the Nemolizumab Atopic Dermatitis (AD) & Prurigo Nodularis (PN) phase IV strategy and clinical leadership (60%), and medical leadership of the In-line Therapeutic Dermatology portfolio (40%).

The ideal candidate for the role must be equipped with deep disease area expertise, pharmacological and biological knowledge, and broad global medical affairs experience and leadership. The person must have extensive launch experience, and experience in leading the design and conduct of phase IV studies.

The role requires the ability to organize and simply communicate complex data cross functional collaboration aligning stakeholders behind a robust medical initiative across a matrix and partnerships.

This individual will set clear and challenging targets that allow Galderma to accomplish business objectives and launch excellence goals. The role will strengthen Galderma’s external collaboration footprint as leaders in dermatology science and as a credible partner for HCP and patient communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent medical affairs at the Inline Therapeutic Dermatology global cross functional core team.
  • Identify and address evidence gaps presenting robust prioritised evidence generation plans for Nemolizumab and Inline Therapeutic Dermatology aligned with the medical strategic & tactical plans that are both product specific and disease area focused
  • Participate in the Integrated Evidence Generation Plan (IEP) process ensuring alignment with commercial, clinical, research, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) plans, translating appropriate strategies into effective life cycle management (LCM)activities
  • Provide strategic input and support countries aligning plans supporting global and local therapeutic area strategies strengthening Galderma’s footprint as a credible partner for HCP’s and patients.
  • Ensure submitted studies meet scientific rigor for SRC approval and centers meet GCP standards as per Galderma SOP’s
  • Define priorities, set clear milestones and target for each study aligning expectations with key stakeholders to ensure timely completion and delivery.
  • Maintain and update SOPs aligned with role profile ensuring comprehensive stakeholder engagement and approval
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a tracker with clearly defined KPI’s regularly updating the respective therapeutic area heads and the R&D on progress and expected study completion for timely scientific communication
  • Lead phase IV plans engaging external experts in Dermatology at advisory boards ensuring evidence generation plans address key gaps identified and be future focused.
  • Ensure the scientific integrity of sponsored and supported research, and relationships with healthcare providers and patient advocacy groups
  • Ensure a patient-centric approach to meet market needs including the inclusion of patient relevant endpoints in clinical trials
  • Define the respective IIS “No Go / Go” Areas for Nemolizumab and Inline Therapeutic Dermatology and communicate these to countries as appropriate
  • Ensure evidence generation plans are aligned with the publication strategy and congress calendar supported by a robust global medical communication and omnichannel strategy to maximize the impact for Nemolizumab and in line Therapeutic Dermatology supporting key scientific narratives.
  • Build and implement robust site engagement studies in collaboration with GMA Region Heads and countries
  • Build and nurture a community network of affiliate Medical Leads/Directors tracking local and global study focus through regular contacts and meetings.
  • Maintain and ensure accurate patient forecast curves, and budget management for all active programs and timorous budget request for new approved studies.

Qualifications

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD with +10 years Pharma experience in Medical Affairs
  • Required: Product launch experience, ideally for 1 or more advanced therapies /biologics
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Dermatology preferred
  • Strong record of accomplishment in developing and executing medical strategy for key markets.
  • Strong familiarity with all phases of drug development, including clinical development, regulatory and life cycle management.
  • Distinct cross-functional collaboration skills; Experience in working across and building effective partnerships between Marketing, Medical, Market Access/RWE, Research and Development/Clinical and Regulatory.
  • Enterprise mindset with the ability to build, develop and maintain strong internal cross-functional networks, think global while embracing local needs, requirements, and nuances.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of building and maintaining a KOL network and building engagement strategies that advance medical objectives.
  • Experience working within an international company with a complex organizational environment and the ability to operate in a matrix team-oriented structure.
  • Fluent in English (speak/read/write)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present scientific data in a credible manner. Solid and persuasive verbal, written, consulting, and platform communication skills.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, stressful and/or confidential situations with ease and professionalism; ability to work with a variety of management styles.
  • Strong ethical standards and mindset. Understand, apply, and advocate global, regional, and local standards and policies (internal and external).
  • Expected 40% travel.
