Description

Amazon is searching for a data driven and customer obsessed individual to join our Cost Management team based in Madrid, Spain. The successful candidate will be a key part of team and will be responsible for all cost aspects of our pan-EU specialist logistics building program. The individual will report to the Head of Cost Management and drive data driven decisions to deliver the most frugal solutions of cost control and problem solving for our customers in the construction and engineering teams.

Would you like an opportunity to work with multiple countries and cultures? The role will be based in Madrid with 20% of time traveling either domestically or to other EMEA countries.

Key job responsibilities

• Provide centralised cost support to project teams negotiating new projects
• Create construction estimates for capital requests and support with cost benchmarking data
• Support project teams on implementing procurement strategies and guidelines
• Support with the preparation of the standardised GC tender documents, support the tender process, participate in tender evaluations and development of the GC recommendation and appointment
• Lead regular reviews of project risks and opportunities to minimise outturn cost through Value Engineering and cost avoidance

A day in the life

A day in the life of this role will be meeting with teams for a new project, develop the cost analysis and then create benchmarking to compare to historic projects. You will be the main contact for all cost related topics for a new project until budget approval, considering 15-20 projects under your ownership at any time. You will also work closely with our internal design team and other cost managers in our team for new or updated building design generations of projects

We are in the very center of Amazon, working with Customers all over the continent (and beyond!). Our vision is to be the industry leaders of cost management of a high speed and large scale logistics program, considering the total cost of construction and launch from end to end. Basic Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• Construction leader within significant experience within the industry.
• Experience of construction cost management of simultaneous multiple projects.
• Quantity Surveyor / Cost Management background

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in construction cost management or construction finance
• Leader in change management and cost tracking - expertise across the main EU industry forms
• French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
