General Reinsurance, Madrid Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Client Accountant in our Life Health Division.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Client Accountant is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of client administration and accounting, serves as the primary accounting contact for the client and supports our internal teams / business segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and reconcile reinsurance statements of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Book premiums, commissions, claims and any other relevant accounting position received within the statements of account into reinsurance accounting systems for Life & Health incoming business in the Latin-American, Spanish and Portuguese market.
  • Perform year-end analysis of each treaty balance sheets, as part of the Financial Statements Closing Process.
  • Credit control and account settlement.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external clients on all accounting issues.
  • Manage receivables for clients to prevent overdue balances.
  • Improve automation of processes like checking of accounts with MS Excel or programming where applicable.
  • Perform analysis and create reports to specific markets, clients or treaties.
  • Interact with multiple Business Units.
  • Participate in initiatives and projects.
  • Ad hoc functions pertaining to account maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Insurance / reinsurance accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the insurance / reinsurance industries preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ideally experience with SAP applications.
  • Ideally knowledge in SQL programming.
  • Good customer service / client relations skills.
  • Solid organizational and self-management skills, ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks to completion.
  • Works effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
