Formación

Are you an experienced IT Security Engineer looking for a unique opportunity to work on one of Europe’s most ambitious space programs? Do you want to be part of the team that ensures the seamless operation of Galileo, the European Global Navigation Satellite System?

We are looking for skilled IT Security Engineers to join our team and play a key role in securing and monitoring IT infrastructure supporting the Galileo program. You will work in a high-availability environment, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the ground segment systems that keep Europe’s GNSS running smoothly.

  • Galileo Control Centre Italy – Fucino (near Avezzano)
  • Galileo Control Centre Deutschland – Oberpfaffenhofen (near Munich)
  • Galileo Security Monitoring Centre France – Saint-Germain-en-Laye (near Paris)
  • Galileo Security Monitoring Centre Spain – San Martín de la Vega (near Madrid)

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Education

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in Windows & Linux system administration, configuration, and hardening
  • Experience in risk analysis and vulnerability assessment
  • Well-versed in IT troubleshooting
  • Experienced in understanding network protocols, encryption, and IT security concepts
  • Familiarity with penetration testing is an added advantage

Additional requirements

  • 1+ years of experience as an IT Security Engineer in a complex IT environment (space, aerospace, telecommunications, or similar)
  • Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate across departments
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Eligibility for security clearance
  • Willingness to travel within Europe when required

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an IT Security Engineer, you will be part of the Galileo Ground Segment, a critical component of the Galileo satellite navigation system. Your role will involve ensuring secure infrastructure through risk assessments, monitoring, and expert support while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure high availability and reliability of Galileo services.

  • Analyse and assess networks, subsystems, components, controls, and security standards to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
  • Deliver expert guidance in the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of security infrastructure components.
  • Conduct security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and forensic log analysis to proactively detect and mitigate threats.
  • Plan and execute periodic security audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance and alignment with client security requirements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising stakeholders to ensure security best practices are integrated throughout all phases of the project.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed security reports, highlighting risks, incidents, compliance status, and recommendations.
  • Perform security impact assessments on change control requests and authorize or deny implementation based on compliance and risk criteria.
