Descripción del empleo

What you will do :

Aistech Space is seeking a Remote Sensing Scientist responsible for developing image processing chains for VIS, NIR, and especially TIR bands for the ENABLER instrument, focusing on Thermal Infrared Data (TIR) applications.

This position offers the opportunity to lead the development of the Level 2 processing chain for the ENABLER TIR bands for upcoming satellite launches in 2025 and 2026. You will also support software teams in developing internal tools such as a radiometric product processor and an end-to-end system simulator. Additionally, you will contribute to internal projects, ESA/H2020 proposals, and client projects utilizing your remote sensing expertise across VIS, NIR, and TIR data from various satellites.

It's essential to collaborate with different business areas within the company—ground infrastructure, satellite operations, space infrastructure, management—to identify, define, and integrate new applications of TIR data, supporting the User Infrastructure Team and Business Development efforts.

The role requires working within an agile, collaborative team focused on short development cycles. You will adhere to internal standards and best practices in project management, documentation, and time management.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Understanding Aistech Space’s mission objectives and working with the user and business development teams to deliver imaging products and insights.
  • Engaging in technical discussions on exploiting TIR imaging data across market sectors.
  • Applying your data science, software engineering, and geospatial data analytics skills to process and enhance imaging products, integrating field data, OSINT, IoT, SIGINT, and automating processes.
  • Identifying new TIR applications for ENABLER data.
  • Collaborating with the software infrastructure team on developing a radiometric product processor and payload system simulator.
  • Creating and maintaining technical and business documentation to support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Recommending new technologies, products, and services to expand market impact.
  • Proposing innovative ideas to improve products and processes and maintaining effective communication within teams.

Additional aspects include:

  • Developing documentation for procedures and specifications.
  • Writing articles for company publications and blogs.
  • Participating in team-building activities and remote fieldwork following protocols.
  • Contributing to proposals with specific tasks related to remote sensing data.
  • Identifying and implementing automation and remote process improvements.

Who you are : Must have :

  • BSc/MSc in Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Mathematics, or relevant fields.
  • Open-minded, extroverted, active learner, tolerant to criticism.
  • Experience with remote sensing data in the thermal infrared region (e.g., Landsat, Aster, Sentinel-3, MODIS).
  • Knowledge of radiative transfer models like MODTRAN, 6S.
  • Experience with geospatial image processing using Python or R (e.g., Rasterio, Xarray, Geopandas, GDAL, NetCDF, Zarr).
  • Experience with at least one thermal remote sensing use case (e.g., wildfires, precision agriculture).
  • Background in data science, software engineering, and geospatial analytics.
  • Experience integrating scientific advancements into data products.
  • Familiarity with database technologies (PostGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS, STAC, Xarray, GeoPandas, pyproj, GDAL, Zarr, NetCDF).
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Julia, Matlab, and fluency in English.

Nice to have :

  • Knowledge of data structures for vector and raster datasets in geospatial pipelines.
  • Experience with APIs for data acquisition/dissemination (e.g., FastAPI).
  • Professional experience in customer success or technical support.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.

Benefits :

Join a passionate, collaborative team with a stable, permanent contract, flexible schedule, competitive salary, and an international environment. Enjoy 23 days of paid vacation plus December 24th and 31st.
