About Vonage

We are seeking a Fullstack Java Software Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team. You will focus on enhancing our PaaS backend systems, improving cloud resource control and provisioning, and contributing to scalable architecture and distributed solutions.

Your role involves contributing to new feature development and backend system improvements , emphasizing quality, fault tolerance, and performance. You will gain experience with real-time communications and data-driven service scaling.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills working on large-scale, highly available systems with a passionate team of engineers specialized in cloud infrastructure, media technologies, and real-time communication.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on software development and system design.
• Implement new features for the cloud-based API Gateway, Media Control, and Signaling systems.
• Contribute to architecture design for distributed networks, resource optimization, and real-time processing.
• Design approaches to measure and improve service quality.
• Collaborate on signaling fabric projects and coordinate with other teams.

Required Skills

• Strong Java 17 skills and willingness to learn additional languages.
• Understanding of memory management, garbage collection, and concurrency.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Good grasp of algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred but Not Essential

• Proficiency with Netty for network programming.
• Experience with Spring Boot for API development.
• Knowledge of message brokers like Kafka, ZeroMQ, RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Redis, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, AWS, ElastiCache.
• Familiarity with CI / CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Go programming language.
• Understanding of communication protocols like VoIP, SIP, H.323, XMPP.
