Climate change is causing deep uncertainty at all levels of society, with climate volatility reducing the security of land-based assets and posing security threats to enterprises, societies, and governments.

Mitiga, a spinoff of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center hosting MareNostrum, aims to employ advanced science and technology to mitigate climate-driven risks. Our approach includes real-time, annual, and century-scale forecasts, along with risk transfer to capital markets via catastrophe bonds, to enhance climate resilience and equity.

We are seeking a talented Full Stack Engineer to develop and improve Mitiga’s climate risk platform, focusing on frontend technologies.

Who you are

You are a skilled, personable developer experienced in building scalable web applications, ready to collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to develop features for our EarthScan application, integrating climate capabilities into new products while ensuring platform stability.

What you'll do

1. Product Development: Lead development of Next.js web applications and Python/TypeScript APIs, implementing features and refactoring code.
2. Technology Stack Management: Use TypeScript and React to build frontend components within a Kubernetes micro-frontend architecture, employing Playwright for testing.
3. Automation & CI/CD: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for testing, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring high-quality releases.
4. Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and product planning.

Requirements

• 5+ years in software development, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Experience building SPAs and backend solutions with Node.js.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Azure cloud technologies.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and automated testing frameworks like Playwright.
• Understanding of relational databases, schema design, ORM, and data migrations.
• Strong collaboration skills to review and implement UI/UX designs, maintaining accessibility and usability standards.
