What You’ll Do (the Role)

This role is key in delivering the regional power market strategy for Europe, a primary focus for our growth plans. You will develop and implement offtake strategies for projects in development by securing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or other relevant agreements, including marketing, origination, and negotiation with utilities and corporates across Southern Europe and other European markets.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Identify and develop market opportunities with major energy users and utilities, mainly in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
2. Collaborate with suppliers and market participants to develop innovative routes to market, securing bankable revenue streams for solar projects.
3. Negotiate heads of terms and PPA contracts with legal, structured finance, and other internal teams.
4. Coordinate with structured finance, development, and commercial teams to create power marketing solutions that optimize funding and facilitate project development.
5. Stay informed about developments in European energy markets and policies to keep Lightsource bp at the forefront of market trends.

Who We’re Looking For

Knowledge

• Deep understanding of European power markets and utility-scale renewables experience.
• Experience negotiating multi-year PPAs in relevant markets.
• Proven track record in originating and executing complex energy projects or transactions.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders and speaking at industry events.

Experience

• Extensive experience in one or more relevant power markets.
• Experience in origination and negotiation of long-term PPAs.
• Participation in renewable energy support auctions.
• Knowledge of power trading and risk management.
