What You’ll Do (the Role)

This role will play a key part in delivering the regional power market strategy for Europe, a key focus area for our growth ambitions.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing offtake strategies for projects in development by securing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or other relevant agreements. This involves marketing, origination, and negotiation of PPAs with utilities and corporates, with a multi-country focus on Southern Europe and other European markets as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop market opportunities with major energy users and utilities, primarily in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and market participants to develop innovative routes to market that secure bankable revenues supporting solar development.
  • Negotiate heads of terms and PPA contracts with legal, structured finance, and other internal teams.
  • Work with structured finance, development, and commercial teams to create power marketing solutions that optimize funding and support project development.
  • Stay informed on European market developments and energy policies to keep Lightsource BP at the forefront of the industry.

Who We’re Looking For

Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of European power markets and utility-scale renewables experience.
  • Experience negotiating multi-year PPAs in relevant markets.
  • Proven track record of originating and executing complex energy projects or transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders and speaking at industry events.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in relevant power markets.
  • Proven ability to originate and negotiate long-term PPAs.
  • Participation in renewable energy support auctions.
  • Knowledge of power trading and risk management.
