Overview

Deluxe is currently looking for post-editing translators who are highly proficient in post-editing and have the required key competencies to review the quality of post-edits as well as provide expertise to help improve the quality of MT. Post-editing involves comparing the machine-generated translation to the source text and making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy, fluency, and adherence to specific style or terminology requirements. The expectation is that the outcome will be a text that is not only understandable but presented in a stylistically appropriate way. The quality is expected to be a “full post-edit” that flows well and is idiomatic. The role combines that of a proofreader and a linguistic reviewer, correcting spelling, grammar and punctuation, and modifying machine-translated sentences that sound clunky or use incorrect terminology or relate an inaccurate concept.

Responsibilities

• Review work quality of post-edits and provide expertise to help improve the quality of MT.
• Compare machine-translated output with the source text and make adjustments to ensure accuracy, fluency, and adherence to style or terminology requirements.
• Produce a full post-edit that is idiomatic and readable for the target audience.
• Act as a proofreader and linguistic reviewer, correcting spelling, grammar and punctuation, and modifying translations that sound clunky or use incorrect terminology.

Qualifications

• Primary requirements: English as the source language to full professional proficiency (IRL Level 4) and Galician as the target language to native level (IRL Level 5).
• Minimum 2 years of experience translating and reviewing content as a post-editor.
• Experience performing MTPE evaluation and validation as required.
• Degree in linguistics, translation or equivalent is a plus.
• Linguistic and cultural adeptness of both source and target language; ability to convey original meaning in a readable and understandable form for the target audience.
• Advanced knowledge of one or more CAT tools; tech-savvy with ability to use macros.
• Positive attitude towards MT and the ability to provide structured feedback to improve the machine translation engine.
• Knowledge of cinema and the film industry is a plus.
