Freelance English Editor

We are looking for an organized, hands-on English Freelance Editor, who has a keen eye for detail, understands how to optimize content, and possesses a critical thinking mindset to transform macroeconomic articles into high-quality content in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish and uphold language quality standards for FocusEconomics’ written content, and keep FE writing guidelines updated.
2. Proofread and edit critical written content, distributed across our various platforms, in a timely manner according to FE deadlines.
3. Ensure critical written content is consistent with our style guide, and our broader aims and objectives (i.e. free from political bias, concise & precise, etc).
4. Liaise with, take direction from and support FocusEconomics’ chief editor in their role.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Native English speaker
2. A bachelor's degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications, and/or English
3. Interested in performing editorial duties (proofreading, copyediting, and providing constructive feedback to in-house and external writers). Past editing experience would be a bonus.
4. Well-organized and with excellent time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary.
5. Great attention to detail and love of the English language.
6. Capable of developing ideas and proposals, and suggests improvements proactively.
7. Excellent self-motivation, written/verbal communication, and people skills.
8. Team player with a collaborative spirit.
9. Interest in global current affairs, experience with macroeconomics would be a bonus.
