Descripción del empleo

Join to apply for the FPGA Architect role at Sateliot

2 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator to provide global and continuous connectivity for the IoT universe under the 5G protocol.

Sateliot is launching a constellation of nanosatellites at low altitude that act as mobile towers, complementing terrestrial networks where they do not reach.

YOUR MISSION

As an FPGA Architect, you will join the Payload Communications team, working with skilled engineers to evolve Sateliot’s space capabilities and provide 5G IoT NTN services worldwide.

You will lead the design, implementation, and validation of the Low-PHY firmware layer, including digital beamforming, for our 5G IoT Satellite Payload. Your role is crucial from conceptualization and lab testing to in-orbit testing and operational phases.

YOUR MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with DSP/Embedded Software engineers on the design, development, and testing of 5G Low-PHY over FPGA platforms.
  • Design and architecture of Low-PHY firmware across a distributed SoC architecture.
  • Implement high-speed serial interfaces (Ethernet, USB, PCIe, JESD204, SerDes).
  • Develop protocols such as ORAN/FAPI interfacing High-PHY and Stack.
  • Convert DSP algorithms from C to RTL using High-Level Synthesis tools.
  • Work with satellite teams to define firmware requirements and create architectural blueprints.
  • Select suitable technologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Oversee firmware architecture implementation, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Conduct architectural reviews, ensure best practices, and document designs.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks for scalable solutions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate new technologies.
  • Mentor team members and provide training.
  • Define and document software processes and standards.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support departmental goals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in electronic engineering, aerospace, or related field.
  • Experience in firmware design and FPGA selection for space environments.
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar role in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe Gen3/4, JESD204b/c, SerDes).
  • Proven FPGA-based system design using VHDL or Verilog.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP standards and 5G IoT NTN specifications is a plus.
  • Experience in the NewSpace or IoT sectors is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Support hardware design during development.
  • Experience mentoring development teams.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to equal opportunities.
