Manychat is building a Python-based Billing layer to carry payments, invoicing, anti-fraud, and compliance logic at scale. You’ll be the first engineer, define patterns, and set standards while mentoring two new engineers. The role sits within a fast-moving, high-load backend team collaborating with Platform and Product.

Expect ownership of API contracts, performance-driven design, and a focus on reliability as Manychat expands its multi-product ecosystem on top of the PHP core.

Formación

• 8+ years of commercial Python development in production environments.
• Strong expertise in modern Python frameworks (FastAPI preferred; Django/Flask fine).
• Real experience designing and integrating APIs with third-party services.
• Solid understanding of async programming and concurrency (AsyncIO).
• Experience with PostgreSQL and large datasets.
• Experience building high-load backend systems.
• Strong testing practices (unit and integration tests; PyTest preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Docker.
• Owns and communicates product-impacting engineering decisions.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build Billing's first Python layer: bridge to PHP core.
• Define patterns for service communication and responsibility splits.
• Build scalable, async services for payments, invoicing, anti-fraud, compliance.
• Own API contracts across systems and ensure backward compatibility.
• Identify functionality to move from PHP core into Python services for performance.
• Design for failure: retries, idempotency, observability.
• Set testing strategy, CI/CD, and rollout practices.
• Mentor two mid-level engineers joining the team.
• Partner with Platform and Product to align architecture with business needs.
• Help shape Billing's support for new products built on top.
