Merista builds the physical AI workforce for food production. They seek a founding hardware engineer to own the robot's body, from design through build, on a Barcelona factory floor.

You’ll report to the CTO, define interfaces with perception, learning, and control teams, and shape who joins the hardware group. You’ll tackle mechanical design, tolerances, sealing, and hygiene for harsh wet environments, build test rigs, and drive a repeatable production process for a small fleet.

Formación

• Proven experience taking mechatronics devices from design through build, testing, and production use.
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals: tolerances, wear, sealing, service life.
• Hands-on prototyping and debugging across CAD, workshop, and hardware in operation.
• Experience selecting components and suppliers, with BOM ownership and cost targets.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into experiments and decisions from results.
• Comfort working across mechanical, electrical, sensing, and software boundaries.

Responsabilidades

• Lead hardware design choices and interfaces with perception, learning, and control teams.
• Structure and mobile base: stiffness, leveling, maintenance access.
• End-tools for deformable, fragile, and sticky ingredients.
• Hygiene, sealing, corrosion protection, and thermal design.
• Sensing and weighing integration with robotics engineers.
• Own BOM, suppliers, and cost tradeoffs.
• Build and validate prototypes, test rigs, and assembly methods.
