Propelling Tech is seeking an AI Business Engineer in a hybrid Barcelona/Madrid setting. You will bridge executives and engineers, translating business needs into AI-driven solutions—from data models and pipelines to GenAI applications and agentic workflows.

You own the problem from discovery to adoption, delivering measurable business impact and value across engagements for global clients.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field.
• 2+ years delivering data and/or AI projects, in cloud environments.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on database experience.
• Proficiency in Python and data modeling concepts.

Forward Deployed Engineer | AI Business Engineer

As an AI Business Engineer you will be the bridge between a global enterprise's executives and its engineers, and you will see your work reach production and measurable results.

The role

You will work side by side with client stakeholders to understand their processes, data and pain points. Then you will redesign those processes with AI and build the end-to-end solution yourself: from data models and pipelines to GenAI applications and agentic workflows.

You will not hand requirements over a wall. You own the problem from the first conversation through to adoption and measured business impact.

Key responsibilities

Business engineering

• Work directly with client stakeholders to understand their business problems, goals and day-to-day operations.
• Map and analyze business processes end to end, find where they break down, and identify where AI can create measurable impact.
• Translate business needs into clear solution designs, and communicate them to both executives and technical teams.
• Measure outcomes and drive adoption so solutions deliver real business value, not just working code.

AI solutions and agentic workflows

• Design and build AI solutions such as GenAI applications, intelligent document processing, classification, matching and decision support.
• Build and deploy AI agents and automated workflows that combine reasoning, tool use and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Use Propelling Tech accelerators and reusable components to speed up delivery across engagements.

Data foundations

• Write complex, optimized SQL and work hands-on with relational and cloud databases.
• Design and implement data models (e.g., Medallion architecture) and the pipelines that feed AI and analytics solutions.
• Ensure data quality and structure are ready to support reliable AI outcomes.
• Build reporting and dashboards that keep business stakeholders engaged.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience delivering data and/or AI projects, ideally in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with databases. This is a must.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Solid understanding of business processes, with the ability to break down how a business operates and where technology fits.
• Practical experience building with LLMs and generative AI, and using AI tools to boost your own productivity.
• Fast learner who thrives on change. You pick up new tools, domains and client contexts quickly, and you adapt when priorities shift.
• Strong communication skills, comfortable leading conversations with business and technical stakeholders.
• Structured problem solver with an ownership mindset.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience building AI agents and agentic architectures, plus automation tools such as n8n.
• Consulting or client-facing experience.
• Domain exposure to insurance, pharma, life sciences or healthcare supply chain.
• Familiarity with data governance, MDM or data catalog platforms.
• Cloud or data engineering certifications.
