Merlin Digital Partner in Spain is seeking a Software Architect specialized in GenAI and agent-based solutions to design secure, scalable AI platforms for enterprise environments. You will connect systems, data, APIs, and cloud platforms, turning advanced concepts into production-ready architectures while collaborating with development, data, cloud, security, and business teams.

Formación

• 6+ years in software architecture or equivalent roles.
• Proven experience defining distributed architectures (microservices, APIs, event-driven, asynchronous integration).
• Backend background with Java, Spring Boot and/or Python, plus API and integration design.
• Hands-on GenAI, LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases or intelligent automation.
• Knowledge of agentic patterns: orchestration, context management, tool use, decision flows, human-in-the-loop.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Ability to guide development teams across data, cloud, security and business domains.
• Based in Spain and able to work in hybrid model (Bilbao preferred).

Responsabilidades

• Designing reference architectures for GenAI and agent-based solutions, defining how models, data, APIs, tools and business processes fit together.
• Assessing use cases and recommending the right pattern for each one: knowledge assistants, workflow automation, tool-using agents, multi-agent systems or AI embedded in existing products.
• Defining how agents securely access corporate data and systems: permissions, access control, secrets management, traceability and action boundaries.
• Designing knowledge retrieval components (RAG, vector indexes, context management and data quality) that deliver relevant and verifiable answers.
• Setting up evaluation and observability frameworks for AI solutions: output quality, flow behaviour, cost, latency, incidents and human-in-the-loop.
• Integrating AI capabilities with backend architectures, APIs, transactional systems and cloud platforms for production-ready solutions.
• Creating reusable patterns, standards and technical guidelines to scale GenAI adoption across projects.
• Leading architecture conversations with technical and business stakeholders, identifying risks, dependencies and viable implementations.

Within its Architecture practice, the team defines the technology strategy and cloud-native platforms behind its clients' most ambitious transformation programmes. They are now growing their capability in Generative AI and agent-based solutions, and are looking for a Software Architect to lead this area.

Mission

As a Software Architect specialised in GenAI and Agentic solutions, your mission will be to design secure, scalable and well-governed AI solutions for enterprise environments, connecting systems, data, APIs, cloud platforms and business needs.

The focus is not on years with one specific tool. What matters is a strong architecture foundation and the ability to apply it to new AI patterns, taking solutions beyond the proof of concept and into real production.

You will work hand in hand with development, data, cloud, cybersecurity and business teams, acting as the technical reference in architecture discussions.

Responsibilities

• Designing reference architectures for GenAI and agent-based solutions, defining how models, data, APIs, tools and business processes fit together

• Assessing use cases and recommending the right pattern for each one: knowledge assistants, workflow automation, tool-using agents, multi-agent systems or AI embedded in existing products

• Defining how agents securely access corporate data and systems: permissions, access control, secrets management, traceability and action boundaries

• Designing knowledge retrieval components (RAG, vector indexes, context management and data quality) that deliver relevant and verifiable answers

• Setting up evaluation and observability frameworks for AI solutions: output quality, flow behaviour, cost, latency, incidents and level of human intervention

• Integrating AI capabilities with backend architectures, APIs, transactional systems and cloud platforms, making sure solutions are operable and maintainable in production

• Creating reusable patterns, standards and technical guidelines to scale the responsible adoption of GenAI across projects and industries

• Leading architecture conversations with technical and business stakeholders, identifying risks, dependencies and alternatives to turn vision into a viable implementation

Requirements

Essential Experience:

• 6+ years in software architecture, technical design or the evolution of complex enterprise solutions

• Proven experience defining distributed architectures: microservices, APIs, event-driven and asynchronous integration, containers or cloud services

• Ability to translate business and user needs into architecture decisions, technical patterns and realistic roadmaps

• Solid grasp of core architecture principles: scalability, resilience, security, observability, performance and governance

• Backend background, ideally with Java, Spring Boot and/or Python, plus API and integration design

• Recent hands‑on experience (ideally 1–2 years) with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases or intelligent automation

• Practical knowledge of agentic patterns: orchestration, context management, tool use, decision flows, API integration and human-in-the-loop

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and automation / Infrastructure as Code practices

• Ability to technically guide development teams and work across data, cloud, security and business profiles

• Based in Spain and available for a hybrid model (Bilbao preferred)

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with GenAI / Agentic frameworks and platforms such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, AutoGen, Azure AI Foundry, Amazon Bedrock or Vertex AI (no need to master them all)

• English level B2/C1 for international documentation and teams
