A leading robotics company in Barcelona is looking for a Firmware Engineer to develop embedded firmware for robotic joint motion controllers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded systems and at least 3 years of experience in firmware development. You will work closely with hardware and engineering teams on cutting-edge robotics projects. Deliver high-performance, reliable, and optimized control algorithms for torque, velocity, and position control.

Ensure robust integration, testing, and validation on target hardware.

Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams.

Contribute to firmware architecture, code quality standards and documentation.

This job is perfect for you if you have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Robotics or Computer Engineering with strong focus on embedded firmware, control systems, and motor control (or equivalent practical experience).
• At least 3 years of proven experience in embedded firmware development.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ development for real-time systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers and real-time firmware.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, EtherCAT, SPI).
• Hands-on experience with debugging, testing, and hardware integration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to code quality.
• Languages: English (professional proficiency), Spanish or Catalan (it is a plus but not mandatory), or German (it is a plus but not mandatory).

It is a plus if you have:

• Control theory, motor control, and DSP fundamentals.
• Experience with robotics applications.
• Familiarity with model-based design or simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink).
• Knowledge of safety standards for robotics or motion systems.
• Curiosity and passion for robotics and motion systems.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.
