We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to drive the development, integration, and testing of cutting-edge embedded solutions for UAV autopilot systems, airborne electronics, and ground support systems. This pivotal role involves enhancing UAV performance in control, navigation, and communication, ensuring reliability and operational excellence.

Tasks to be performed:

  • Design, implement, and optimize embedded software for UAV autopilot, airborne, and ground systems.
  • Integrate and debug sensors, actuators, communication devices, and other embedded hardware.
  • Conduct software simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and field testing for UAV systems.
  • Troubleshoot communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, TCP/IP) and hardware interactions.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design reports, test plans, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and aerospace engineers, to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
  • Support field operations, flight tests, and troubleshooting of UAV systems.

Required skills, experience and candidate profile:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems development.
    • Strong knowledge of microcontroller platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, STM32) and low-level programming.
    • Hands-on experience with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and TCP/IP.
    • Proficiency in debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators, etc.).
    • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows.
    • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or similar.
    • Understanding of control systems (PID control, sensor fusion algorithms) for UAV applications is a plus.
    • Knowledge of UAV autopilot systems (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot) and ground control stations (e.g., QGroundControl, Mission Planner).
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in embedded systems development, preferably in UAV systems or aerospace applications.
  • Real-time embedded software and hardware integration.
  • Experience with flight control systems and UAV development platforms.
  • Previous involvement in UAV testing and field operations is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • The position is located in our Headquarters of Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid).
