IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated Project Technician to join the Post-Award Office. The selected candidate will support IRB Barcelona Researchers with various competitive projects and ensure regulatory compliance by providing resources, support, advice, and guidance on project delivery. The candidate will report to the Section Head of the Post-Award Office and the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Post-Award Office in preparing financial reports and scientific reports for timely submission.
  2. Prepare and upload supporting documents to ensure compliance with regulations into various justification platforms.
  3. Update grant information in ERP SAP Business One (SBO) and assist with fund transfers among different cost categories and other administrative tasks.
  4. Monitor the time recording system for projects.
  5. Assist with financial audits of projects.
  6. Resolve administrative and financial issues with funding entities.
  7. Ensure the timely execution of economic reports and project deliverables.
  8. Liaise with other departments to ensure proper project implementation.
  9. Manage research laboratories, optimize resources within the budget, and supervise research activities for consistency.
  10. Support management of competitive research funds and assist principal investigators with compliance issues.
  11. Coordinate with funding entities on administrative or financial issues.
Qualifications:

Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years of experience as a Project Officer or Financial Controller is preferred.

Knowledge: High proficiency in English and Spanish (written & spoken); Catalan is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and SAP Business One (SAP - BO).

Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, detail-oriented, capable of handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines, proactive, and autonomous work ability.

Additional Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of funding programs such as “Convocatoria Emergentes FEDER” and “projectes singulars institucionals d’infraestructures de R+D” funded by Generalitat de Catalunya.
  • Experience with EU Programmes and “Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica”.
  • Experience in a research environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change and prioritize tasks.
