Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
Assist in maintaining and repairing the physical structures of buildings by performing the following duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  1. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect systems such as automated feed, fresh water, recycle, cool cells, ventilation, controllers, and penning for animal production facilities to ensure efficient operations.
  2. Use tools ranging from hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and testing devices.
  3. Follow work orders and specifications to determine necessary repairs, replacements, or maintenance.
  4. Weld building equipment including load-out chutes and fabricate penning or gating as needed.
  5. Be on call for emergency situations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year technical degree or higher, or a high school diploma/GED with 1-3 months of experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and work orders, and to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and ability to pass DOT physical and obtain medical card.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds, and push/move up to 300 pounds. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing duties, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, gases, waste material, feed, and dust. Overnight travel may be required with accommodations provided.
