Job summary

Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Field Application Engineer to deliver post-sale support for GeneXpert systems in clinical laboratories across the North of Spain. You will ensure uptime, adoption, and value realization while collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams.

The role requires remote work and up to ~80% field travel, reporting to the Customer Care Manager in Spain. A engineering/biology background and 2–3 years in healthcare or diagnostic labs are

Qualifications

• Diploma and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Biology; diagnostic industry experience is a plus.
• 2–3 years’ experience in health care/biomedical or with laboratory customers in the region.
• Fluent in local language with strong English; Portuguese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-installation site assessments, install instruments, configure software and connectivity, and provide ongoing support during evaluation and post-launch phases.
• Monitor sites and deliver training on system operation, software, reagents, and connectivity.
• Carry out repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and manage spare parts and inventory.

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a field-based expert responsible for delivering exceptional mainly post-sale support to customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively. In this role, the FAE oversees the successful installation, adoption, and optimization of Cepheid’s GeneXpert systems within clinical laboratories across the region. By partnering closely with all customers in the region, the FAE maximizes system uptime, drives adoption, and enhances the commercial value of GeneXpert systems and assays. This position reports to the Customer Care Manager in Spain, it requires remote work and travel to cover North of Spain Territory.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Conduct pre-installation site assessments, install instruments, configure software and connectivity, and provide ongoing support to customers during the evaluation stage. Continue to assist after product launch and on assay conversion, assay trainings, implement any necessary hardware or software updates, including connectivity enhancements.
• Monitor sites and deliver training on system operation, software, reagents and connectivity.
• Carry out reactive repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, deinstallations, and relocations in a timely, productive, and cost-effective manner. Interpret customers’ needs and take responsibility for resolving issues, coordinating with other functions and liaising with the customer on both administrative and technical matters. Manage spare parts, including stock levels and inventory for car stock and other required components.

The Essential Requirement Of The Job Include

• Diploma and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Biology, Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Diagnostic industry an advantage
• 2-3 years’ experience in health care / biomedical /handling Medical Devices or experience working with laboratory customers in the region and knowledge of diagnostic market
• Fluent in the local language of the region, with a strong command of English. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an advantage

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• Ability to travel and spend around 80% on the field
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 27 kg

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Technical support and training experience in reagent and instrumentation for Clinical Diagnostics
• Experience with customer base within territory
